ChatGPT guide

Connect ChatGPT to your trading journal

ChatGPT can read your own TMM journal — your trades, PnL, win rate, tags and diary — once you add TMM as a custom connector. It takes about five minutes, there is no token to copy, and the connection is read-only.

How did last month go?
Your performance summary
84 trades, 61% of them green, +$3,180 net after fees. Your average winner is $132 against an $88 average loser, so your payoff is 1.5. BTC longs carried the month at +$3,590; ETH shorts handed $410 of it back.

One trade and your diary
Tuesday, SOL short, three entries averaging $184.20, stopped at $191.60 for -$540 — your biggest loss in six weeks and about four times your usual risk. You had already logged two losses that morning, and your diary that evening reads “sized up to make it back”.
Am I better in the morning or late at night?
Your PnL by hour
The morning, clearly. Between 07:00 and 12:00 you are +$4,100 across 121 trades at a 64% win rate. After 20:00 you are -$1,260 across 58 trades at 43%. Same setups, worse hours.

The answers above are examples and the numbers in them are invented. Yours are read live from your own trades every time you ask.

Once it is connected you just ask. ChatGPT decides which tool to call and reads the real numbers out of your journal — no screenshots, no copy-paste.

ChatGPT needs Developer mode for custom connectors, so that switch comes first. After that you paste one address, sign in to TMM in the browser, and pick TMM in the chat. Every screenshot below is the real screen you will see.

Six steps, about five minutes

  1. 1

    Turn on Developer mode

Open ChatGPT settings, go to Security and login, and switch Developer mode on. Custom connectors live behind this switch, so the option to add one does not appear until it is enabled.

  2. 2

    Create the connector

In Plugins, create a new one. Name it TMM, leave Connection on Server URL, paste the TMM address, and set Authentication to OAuth. Tick the box confirming you understand, then press Create. Leave Advanced OAuth settings alone — nothing there needs filling in.

  3. 3

    Sign in with TMM

ChatGPT opens a sign-in screen. Press Sign in with TMM and log in with the account you already have. TMM then shows you exactly what ChatGPT will be allowed to read, with your trading diary as a separate tick you can leave off.

  4. 4

    Let it read without asking

Open the TMM plugin's Permissions and choose Allow read actions. ChatGPT then stops asking for approval on every single question. It is safe here because every TMM tool is read-only, so there is nothing to approve beyond reading.

  5. 5

    Pick TMM in the chat

Start a new chat and open the plus menu next to the message box. TMM sits in the list with the other tools. Select it and it stays attached for that conversation.

  6. 6

    Ask your first question

Type a normal question about your trading. You never name a tool — ChatGPT picks whichever one fits and reads the answer out of your journal.

Worth remembering

  • Developer mode has to be on before the connector option appears.
  • The only thing you paste is the address — no token, no client id, no secret.
  • Your trading diary is a separate permission on the TMM approval screen; leave it off and ChatGPT never sees your notes.
  • You can disconnect at any time from TMM Settings, Connect your AI, or by removing the connector in ChatGPT.

Questions

Do I need a paid ChatGPT plan?

Developer mode and custom connectors are not on every ChatGPT plan, so check what your account includes. The TMM side is free on every plan we offer, including the free one.

Can ChatGPT place trades or change my journal?

No. Every tool TMM exposes reads only. Nothing that could add, edit or delete anything in your journal is offered to it at all, so there is no permission you have to remember to switch off.

Does ChatGPT see my exchange API keys?

No. Your keys never leave TMM. The connector can see an account's name, its exchange and a masked version of the public key — the same masked form the website shows you — and never the key itself or its secret.

Why does it ask me to sign in instead of taking a token?

Because signing in is safer and simpler: you approve the connection on a TMM page, nothing sensitive is ever pasted into ChatGPT, and you can revoke it from TMM without touching ChatGPT. A personal token still exists for clients that cannot open a browser.

How do I disconnect it?

Either side works. In TMM open Settings, Connect your AI, and revoke it under Connected apps — access stops on the next request. In ChatGPT, remove the TMM plugin.

Give ChatGPT your full trading history — free

Everything above needs a TMM account, and it costs nothing to open one. Connect an exchange with a read-only API key and TMM pulls in every fill you have ever made, then keeps the record current on its own. From there ChatGPT can read the whole thing — trades, tags, notes and the numbers behind them — instead of the handful of screenshots you can paste into a chat.

Reading only, on both sides. ChatGPT is never given anything that can place an order or change your journal.
